Notes: Students will be working on posters for AVID for part of the class period because we have a fundraiser on Friday after school. It will be in small groups with guided instructions.

You Will Need:

    • Pen, Paper, Storm Check, and Vocabulary Acquisition Sheet.

Update planners with Agenda and HW

  1. Announcements:
    • Students should stand for the Pledge of Allegiance, then listen QUIETLY to the announcements while they update their planners.
  2. Chapter 11 Vocabulary Acquisition
    1. Review words, definitions, and physical representations.
    2. Add synonym/antonyms.
  3. Storm Check Quadrant II Chapter 11 Examples and Non-Examples.pptx
    1. Students will identify examples vs. non-examples of the vocabulary words using "thumbs up or thumbs tucked".
    2. Students will write their definition of each word on their Storm Check.
  4. AVID Posters
    • In teacher assigned groups, students will work together to complete a poster to promote the AVID program and a positive school environment.
      1. Review instructions as a whole class.
      2. Move to groups; each group will draw a topic for their poster out of the bucket.
      3. Groups will use provided supplies to complete posters.
